• Judah was attacked by Babylonia and many people were sent into exiles by Babylonia and became slaves. Among the exiles were members of royal families and nobles. Stand-out boys out of them were admitted to the palace school of Babylonia. They ate delicious food and wine, learning a lot of Babylonia's advanced education, so that they would serve the king, after three years of education.

But, the Jewish boys Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abenego cannot eat the food, because God was not pleased with it.

So, Daniel asked a palace guard.

"Please let us eat only food we want to eat."

      The guard answered.

"If your health gets worse, I would be killed. So, I cannot do as you asked."

      Daniel earnestly asked him, again.

"Please let us eat nothing but vegetables and water, for only ten days, and then why don't you compare our condition with others'?"

The palace guard trusted the honest and good Daniel and his three friends. Finally, he allowed them to do so.

After ten days, Daniel and his three friends compared their condition with others'. Daniel and his three boys' faces looked more vigorous and healthier, compared to other boys who ate the food that the king gave.

Daniel and his three friends continued to do as God told, keeping firm faith in the Lord, during their life as exiles. At last, they grew up as wise and good adults.
