• There lived a very rich man named Zacchaeus. He was the Roman tax collector. Many people did not like him, because he levied heavy taxes on his people, dedicated it to Rome, and collected money for himself. He was despised by people and had no friends.

He was eager to see Jesus. When he heard Jesus come to the town, he came out of his house to see Jesus. But, Zacchaeus was too small to see Jesus crowded with people.

    •

Zacchaeus went up a mulberry tree to see Jesus. The moment he saw Jesus, his heart fluttered, soaked with tears.

On his way under the tree, Jesus stopped walking and said to Zacchaeus.

"Zacchaeus, Hurry Down. I'll stay at your house."

He was so overjoyed as to almost fall down on the tree. He walked to his house, with Jesus.

Those who had hated him began to grumble.

"How can he come in the greedy Zacchaeus's house? He is too much."

"I can't understand Jesus. Why does he visit the sinner's house?"

    • Jesus had noticed Zacchaeus's hearty mind. Zacchaeus repented his wrongdoing before Jesus, and said that he will give half of his possessions to the poor and repay others' possessions, four times."

      Jesus answered.

"I salvaged a sinner. I came into this world in order to find lost sinners and salvage them."

Jesus did not want the salvaged people to be indulged in secular lust. He hoped that everyone will love God and help neighbors.
